grant’s entrepreneurial journey began in the energy sector before he recognised the opportunities created by the transition to cleaner energy. Since then, he has founded and scaled businesses including Planet-U Energy, Solar 4 Business, Solar 4 Homes, and WholeSolar, helping businesses and homeowners reduce energy costs and improve sustainability. Through Battery Capital, Grant has expanded into renewable-energy infrastructure, including solar farms and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), supporting both energy resilience and the UK’s net-zero transition.

More recently, he has founded Inicio, a commercial solar and renewable-energy business that helps organisations achieve lower energy costs and meet sustainability targets through fully funded, no-upfront-cost energy solutions.

Recognised for his entrepreneurial achievements, Nicholson was named Institute of Directors Young Director of the Year in 2020 and has been recognised by St James’ Place as one of the UK’s leading entrepreneurs of the of the century through its 300 Years of Leadership and Innovation initiative.
